How to clean Eyeglasses

Cleaning your eyeglasses is essential to maintain clear vision and prevent smudges or scratches. Here's a simple step-by-step guide on how to clean your eyeglasses properly:

1. Wash your hands: Before handling your glasses, make sure to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water to remove any dirt or oils that could transfer to the lenses.

2. Rinse your glasses: Rinse your glasses under lukewarm water to remove any loose debris and dust. Avoid using hot water, as it may damage lens coatings.

3. Apply a small amount of gentle soap: Use a mild dish soap or gentle hand soap (without lotion) and apply a tiny drop to both sides of the lenses.

4. Gently rub the lenses: Using your fingertips, gently rub the lenses in a circular motion. Be careful not to apply too much pressure, as it may scratch the lenses.

5. Clean the frame: Don't forget to clean the frame, especially the nose pads and earpieces, as they can accumulate dirt and oils.

6. Rinse thoroughly: Rinse the glasses thoroughly under lukewarm water to remove all traces of soap.

7. Shake off excess water: Gently shake the glasses to remove excess water.

8. Dry with a microfiber cloth: Use a clean, soft microfiber cloth to dry your glasses. Avoid using tissues, paper towels, or clothing, as they may scratch the lenses.

9. Check for smudges: Inspect the lenses under a good light source to ensure there are no smudges or streaks left.

10. Repeat if necessary: If your glasses are still not clean, repeat the process.

Tips:

  • Avoid using harsh chemicals, alcohol, or ammonia-based cleaners, as they can damage lens coatings.

  • Never wipe your glasses when they are dry, as this can scratch the lenses. Always rinse them first or use a lens cleaning spray.

  • When you're not wearing your glasses, store them in a clean case to protect them from dust and scratches.
