Kantara outperformed KGF: Chapter 2 in terms of overall attendance in the state of Karnataka and has earned over 200 crores at the global box office.
Even nearly a month after its debut, Rishabh Shetty's Kantara is still smashing box office records. The Kannada movie broke the 200-crore mark in terms of gross worldwide receipts over the course of the Diwali holidays. Only three Kannada movies have ever achieved this feat. Its achievement in the state of Karnataka, where it outperformed both KGF movies and recorded the biggest film footfalls ever, is even more astonishing.
A storyline of land grabbing and man vs. nature is combined with regional belief and folk systems in Rishab Shetty's film Kantara, which is set in coastal Karnataka and features the director himself as the main character. The movie has been a huge hit in Karnataka, and it has also made money in its Hindi and Telugu dubs.
By October 24, Kantara had brought in a total of 211.5 crores worldwide, according to the trade tracker. This comprises a total revenue of 196.95 crores from just India. In just over ten days since its debut, the Hindi dub version of the movie has brought in 24 crores, and the Telugu version just under 23 crores. It is presently only behind KGF: Chapter 2 (1207 crore) and KGF: Chapter 1 with this amount.
With this sum, it has moved into third place on the list of all-time highest-grossing Kannada movies, just after KGF: Chapter 2 (1207 crore) and KGF: Chapter 1 (250 crores). The fact that Kantara is still performing well at the box office is notable. In all languages, it made more than 8 crore nett on October 23, the 25th day of its existence. According to this, towards the end of its run, it might just surpass KGF 1 and take second place.
It is among the highest-grossing Indian movies of the year. The movie presently occupies the eighth position on the list, ahead of Gangubai Kathiawadi and Valimai, and behind only KGF 2, RRR, Ponniyin Selvan I, Brahmastra, Vikram, The Kashmir Files, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.
Murali, Acyuth Kumar, and Sampathi Gowda are also included in the lead parts of Kantara.
Since its September 30 release, the movie has won praise from critics, actors and directors for its outstanding performances and plot. Superstar Rajinikanth is the most recent person to enter the list. Rajinikanth, who was astounded by the unique experience provided by Kantara, praised Rishab and his crew for producing "this masterpiece in Indian cinema." He also plays the lead in the film Kantara, which is directed by Rishab. Rajinikanth stated in a tweet that "the unknown is more than the known. No one in the film could have expressed this better than Hombale Films. Kantara, your words made me shiver.
Rishab Shetty, hats off to you as a writer, director and actor. Congrats to the whole cast and crew of this masterpiece in Indian cinema.”
Rajinikanth's praise for his efforts on Kantara, according to Rishabh Shetty, was like "a dream come true." The director-actor tweeted the senior actor's evaluation and stated, "Dear Rajinikanth Sir, I have been a fan of yours since I was a young child. You are the biggest superstar in India. Your acknowledgement is a dream come true for me. You motivate me to write more regional tales and motivate all of our audiences. I'm grateful, sir." Additionally, Rishab Shetty added a symbol with hands in hearts.
