"OMG 2" Box Office Report: Akshay Kumar's Film Surpasses Rs 111 Crore Mark by Day 7

In a significant box office feat, "OMG 2," starring Akshay Kumar, has successfully breached the Rs 100 crore milestone in global collections. However, the film's domestic earnings are showing signs of decline.

During its debut week at the box office, "OMG 2" has displayed commendable performance, yet the film is noticeably grappling with the repercussions of sharing screens with "Gadar 2," the cinematic offering from Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, which has emerged as a standout hit this year. On its seventh day of release, the movie, headlined by Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam Dhar, raked in Rs 5.25 crore in box office revenue, pushing its net total to Rs 84.72 crore, as meticulously tracked by industry observer Sacnilk.

Presently, the worldwide collection for "OMG 2" stands at an impressive Rs 111.8 crore, with an overseas contribution of Rs 18 crore. Notably, the sequel has already outperformed its predecessor, which amassed Rs 81.46 crore during its theatrical run. The film has garnered resounding acclaim from both audiences and critics alike, with particular praise for its impactful social message.

However, an aspect under scrutiny is the film's A certification, prompting discussions among the movie's cast and creators, who are advocating for a more lenient rating akin to the US certification.

In a gesture of gratitude, Akshay Kumar took to the platform X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, expressing heartfelt thanks to the audience for their overwhelming love for "Oh My Gadar." His post read, "A big thank you to our audiences for all the love for #OhMyGadar and giving us the greatest week in Indian Film History! प्यार और आभार🙏🏻 #Gadar2 in cinemas #OMG2 in cinemas."

Accompanying his message, Akshay also shared a video wherein he croons the "Udd Jaa Kaale Kaava" song from "Gadar 2" as a tribute to Sunny Deol's iconic film, celebrating the blockbuster weekend at the cinemas.
