A note was found in the room saying 'Sorry, I won't clear NEET

The burden of fulfilling family expectations or the fear of failure in exams is increasingly leading students towards tragic outcomes like suicide. Such a case has recently come to light in Nalanda, where a student took his own life before even attempting the NEET exam.

A note was found in the room saying 'Sorry, I won't clear NEET

The scene in the room shook the senses of the family members, as described by the deceased's uncle Gopal Kumar: "Priyanshu had dinner with us last night, mentioned his intention to go for the exam, and went to bed. When we tried to wake him up in the morning for the exam, he did not respond. Upon breaking open the door due to fear of something untoward, the sight inside stunned everyone."

"A note was found in the room saying 'Sorry, I won't clear NEET'. Upon receiving news of the student's suicide, the police promptly arrived, took custody of the body, and sent it to Bihar Sharif for postmortem."

According to relatives, "Priyanshu was preparing for NEET for the second time after passing the intermediate exams in 2023. He was studying at home for NEET through self-study. Today, he was supposed to take his exam at A.R. Academy in Bihar Sharif, but tragically, he took his own life before the exam."

Priyanshu, a resident of Asthawan Thana area, was the son of Mantu Singh. Asthawan Thana SHO Divyanshali Jayaswal stated, "The student was under stress regarding the NEET exam, which led him to take this extreme step. The postmortem of the body has been conducted and handed over to the family."

The NEET exam, conducted nationwide for medical courses, took place on Sunday. Approximately 24 lakh students participated across the country, with nearly 1.39 lakh students from Bihar appearing for the NEET UG exam.

This tragic incident in Nalanda serves as a stark reminder of the immense pressure students face during competitive exams, highlighting the urgent need for better mental health support and stress management strategies within the education system. As we mourn the loss of Priyanshu, it is crucial for authorities and communities to reflect on how to prevent such heartbreaking incidents in the future.
