AB de Villiers works with the MAD NGO to mentor underprivileged children in India.

AB de Villiers, who played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL and represented South Africa in all three forms of cricket, has volunteered his time to Make A Difference (MAD).

The NGO works with children in India who need care and protection, and it has created a prosperity model that comprises working with kids from the time they are 10 years old until they are 28 years old and have settled down in life with stable income levels.

Notably, the NGO aids 3,500 children annually throughout India thanks to its distinctive prosperity model, which is supported by 4,000 volunteers.

In response to a question about the partnership, AB De Villiers said, "I am happy to be associated with MAD and will mentor two young people supported by the team. "The NGO offers consistent support to children born into extremely difficult circumstances until they break the cycle of poverty. Their work is incredible."

Over the next six months, De Villiers will provide mentoring to two recipients: Anitha, 21, a journalism student in Bangalore, and 18-year-old Ayan from Lucknow, who recently completed his high school education and hopes to play cricket at the under-19 level and maybe for India.

A true South African great, AB de Villiers was a 360-degree batter who could hit any ball, anywhere, against any bowler. He was a fielder who could leap tall buildings and yet come up with the catch and who would gladly take up the wicketkeeping position if necessary. In case all of that wasn't impressive enough, he was also a skilled tennis, golf, and rugby player.
