Constable Who Slapped Kangana Ranaut Suspended, Arrested

Kulwinder Kaur, a constable with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), has been arrested and suspended after allegedly slapping newly-elected Mandi MP and actor Kangana Ranaut at Chandigarh airport on Thursday. The incident reportedly occurred as Ranaut was preparing to board a flight to Delhi.

Kaur, who is accused of slapping Ranaut, claims she was provoked by an old statement made by the actor regarding farmers. "She gave a statement... that farmers are sitting there for ₹ 100. Will she go and sit there? My mother was sitting there and protesting when she gave this statement...," Kaur said, referring to Ranaut's controversial remark during the 2020 farmers' protest.

Ranaut faced significant backlash after a social media post in which she implied that an elderly woman protester was being paid to sit at the protest site. She later deleted the post following widespread criticism.

In a video recorded by onlookers at the airport, Ranaut can be seen being escorted to the security checkpoint where the incident occurred. The video captures an argument but does not show the alleged slap. Ranaut later shared a video on social media describing the incident, stating that Kaur hit her and shouted expletives, claiming support for farmers.

This incident is the latest in a series of controversies involving Ranaut, who has faced backlash for her comments on social media, including labeling farmers as "terrorists" during the protests. She later deleted these posts as well.
