In November 2021, Parag Agrawal was chosen as the new CEO of Twitter. However, in less than a year, Elon Musk, Twitter's new owner, sacked the CEO who was originally from India.

Twitter has been taken over by Elon Musk, who also terminated several of the senior executives. Elon Musk said that Twitter's top executives had misled him and the company's investors about the prevalence of fraudulent accounts on the social media site.

Among the senior executives are Twitter CEO Parag Agarwal, head of legal, policy, and trust Vijaya Gadde, and chief financial officer Ned Segal.

Musk visited the company's headquarters in San Francisco and changed his Twitter bio to Chief Twit. He arrived at Twitter HQ holding a sink from the bathroom and writing, "Entering Twitter HQ - let that sink in!"

Musk also visited the office of a Twitter employee. Later, he also published a letter in which he explained his motivation for purchasing Twitter and his goals for the site.

According to a report, Musk intends to reduce Twitter's headcount by 75% after the acquisition. Although it would appear that the process has started, Musk informed the site's employees that he doesn't want to fire 75% of the personnel. That in no way implies, though, that he won't reduce Twitter's existing employee count.

In November 2021, the Indian-born Parag Agrawal was appointed to take over as CEO of Twitter after Jack Dorsey resigned. Dorsey had given Agrawal his full support at the moment. Given that Musk fired him, Agrawal held the position for less than a year. Agrawal graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-in Bombay.

He also holds a PhD in computer science from Stanford University and has worked as an intern for Microsoft, Yahoo, and AT&T Labs, among other organisations. He started working at Twitter in 2011, making his tenure here almost 11 years. He was appointed to the position in 2018 and served as Twitter's Chief Technology Officer (CTO) prior to that. He contributed to the company's technical strategy, particularly in relation to machine learning and AI, as was previously reported. He oversaw initiatives to scale Twitter Ads systems.

Although Musk ousted Agrawal, their relationship did not have a rocky beginning, at least in the eyes of the public. Agrawal congratulated Musk when he acquired the majority of Twitter back in April. In reality, that message appears first as a "popular tweet" on his profile.

"I'm pleased to announce that @elonmusk has been elected to our board. We learned via recent conversations with Elon that he would be a valuable addition to our Board, "The now-fired CEO of Twitter wrote in April of this year.
