Igas-Bagwal is designated as a public holiday by CM Dhami.

On November 4, there will be a holiday in Uttarakhand to celebrate the Igas folk festival. On Tuesday, November 4, following the declaration of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the government declared a vacation. Pushkar Singh Dhami, the chief minister, recently tweeted in Garhwali. He stated in the tweet that a holiday would be observed in Iguazu to promote state culture.

In Uttarakhand, it is customary to celebrate Bagwal (Igas). Because it is thought that word of Lord Ram's return to Ayodhya didn't get to the hills until 11 days later, the festival is observed 11 days after Diwali.

All government and non-government offices, educational facilities, and establishments, as well as banks and treasuries, would be closed on November 4 in accordance with the directive issued by Secretary-in-Charge Vinod Kumar Suman. It's important to note that the state celebrates the Igas-Bagwal folk festival 11 days after Diwali. The government wants everyone to celebrate this holiday with fanfare and for the younger generation to feel a connection to it.

To commemorate Lord Rama's entry into Ayodhya, the Diwali festival is observed nationwide. However, it is believed that after 11 days, the hilly regions of Uttarakhand learned of Lord Rama's return, at which point joy was celebrated there. But there is weak evidence to support this assumption. because the people of Uttarakhand's mountains also observe the Diwali new moon festival with igas. And in some areas of Uttarakhand, Iga is observed.

Additionally, a variety of dates are celebrated as Budhi Deepawali in numerous regions of Uttarakhand.

This is the second premise upon which the Iga celebration is based. After winning the battle of Dapaghat in Tibet, Veer Madho Singh Bhandari of Garhwal returned home with his troops on the Ekadashi of Kartik Shukla Paksha. People rejoiced at Veer Madho Singh Bhandari's successful return and played bagwal to mark the day of Ekadashi. And in Uttarakhand, this festive occasion became known as the Igas festival. We might therefore claim that the Egaas festival is the Uttarakhand celebration of victory.

Similar to Deepawali, it is also observed by cleaning homes, lighting diyas on them, and anointing bullocks' horns with oil. Garlands are hung around the necks of cows to show their adoration.

At the Igas festival, playing bhailo is customary. A rope-tied bundle of various types of wood, such as bhailo, pine, or bhimal, is wound around the body. and rejoice in good fortune. Satire, folk dancing, and folk arts are also performed on this day. In various areas, pandava dance performances are also given.
