Gurugram, August 2, 2023: In the wake of communal unrest and violence spreading in the Nuh district of Haryana, authorities have taken precautionary measures to maintain peace and ensure the safety of students in the Sohna subdivision of Gurugram. District Magistrate Nishant Kumar Yadav issued an order stating that all educational institutions, including government and private schools, colleges, and coaching institutes, will remain closed on August 2, 2023.

The decision was taken in response to the escalating tension in the neighbouring Nuh district, where anti-social elements have blockaded roads, causing disruption and threatening public order in the region. Authorities fear that this unrest could spill over into Sohna, leading to potential risks for students and educational institutions.

The closure applies only to the Sohna Sub-division of District Gurugram, and other parts of Gurugram will resume educational activities as usual on August 2.

Meanwhile, the situation in Gurugram remains tense as a fresh case of communal violence erupted in Badshahpur on Tuesday afternoon. A mob targeted an eatery and vandalized nearby shops, with some belonging to a particular community. During the incident, the mob chanted religious slogans in front of a mosque, adding to the volatility of the situation.

Satish Kumar, SHO of Badshahpur police station, reported that the situation was handled by the police before it escalated further. The fire brigade team arrived promptly to control the blaze caused by the mob's actions.

The violence in the region has claimed five lives so far, with the unrest triggered by an attack on a VHP procession in the adjoining Nuh district on Monday.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement to restore peace in the area. Security measures have been heightened to prevent any further incidents of violence.
