Over 15 lakh diyas lit in Ayodhya on Diwali, in presence of PM Modi, breaking the previous record.

In Ayodhya, at Ram Janmbhoomi, Ram Lalla also prayed for Ram. After a "Bhoomi puja" for the construction of a Ram temple on August 5, 2020, this is Modi's first trip to Ayodhya.

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off the historic Deepotsav celebrations on Sunday, the eve of the festival of Diwali, Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh broke a new Guinness World Record for burning the most clay lamps—over 15 lakh—on the banks of the Saryu.

Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Adityanath showed the Guinness Book of World Records award at the event.

Ayodhya's Awadh University's professors and students made a significant contribution to the record's creation. As soon as the PM declared the festival to be open, more than 15.76 lakh clay lamps were lit one by one while people chanted "Shri Ram Jai Ram Jai Ram."

Modi spoke to the crowd on the occasion of Deepotsav, opening with "Jai Shri Ram." I wish my fellow citizens a happy Diwali from the hallowed birthplace of Lord Ram, Modi remarked.

Modi added that people should study Lord Ram as much as they can. No one is turned away from or left behind by Lord Ram, according to Modi.

Because of Lord Ram's favour, Modi stated, "I had the chance to see him; I am glad that people all over the world are watching Deepotsav celebrations in Ayodhya."

The prime minister went to the improvised Ram temple as soon as he arrived in Ayodhya for the Deepotsav celebrations and prayed to Ram Lalla. There, he conducted an "aarti" and lighted an earthen candle. On his forehead, temple chief priest Acharya Satyendra Das painted vermillion.

The entire city of Ayodhya erupted in "Jai Shri Ram" cries when the Guinness Book of World Records representatives announced the creation of the record. The certificate was given to the Chief Minister, and the Prime Minister praised him for his accomplishment.

Notably, 1.71 lakh lights were lit in 2017, the first Deepotsav in Uttar Pradesh under the Yogi Adityanath administration. The number has been steadily rising ever since, reaching 3.01 lakh in 2018, 4.04 lakh in 2019, 6.06 lakh in 2020, and 9.41 lakh in 2021.
