On Saturday, November 5, a fire started in one of the stores on Fashion Street close to Azad Maidan. Roughly 15 minutes after the fire's initial start at around 1 p.m., it was put out.
A fire on Saturday afternoon destroyed at least 10 roadside stores in Mumbai Fashion Street, according to a civic official, who also noted that no one was hurt in the event.
The fire started in one of the establishments on Fashion Street, a roadside clothing market close to Churchgate, at 1 o'clock, and it quickly spread to several of its neighbouring shops.
"My shop was entirely gutted in the incident," claimed a distraught retailer who managed to flee the fire. A total loss of roughly Rs. 10 lakh is what I'm estimating. "I'll have to completely reconstruct my shop," The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said in a news release that the fire was level 1 and that no lives were lost in the event.
Around 12 shops caught fire, according to Shivdas Gurav, the A-assistant ward's municipal commissioner. Our cops helped the fire department on the ground. "The fire immediately spread to neighbouring shops since garments were stored in them," said Arman Akmal, one of the witnesses. Twelve to fifteen shops were already burning by the time the fire department arrived, and some of the trees behind the shops were also on fire. In order to avoid being trapped in the flames, store owners hurriedly flung their bags of clothes to the side of the road.
For more than two hours, firefighters battled to cool off the impacted regions. The incident was caused by a short circuit in one of the stores, a fire official from the Fort Fire Brigade said after performing an investigation.
