The incumbent MLA, Congress's Kanti Sodaparmar, who won by just over 5,000 votes in 2017 says he is hopeful of wider margin despite AAP's entry into the race.
Anand: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is hoping that its strong showing in the civic elections will continue, thus the Congress is hoping to "milk a victory" and perform an encore in what is mostly considered as a two-way struggle. This seat was won by the Congress in 2017 after 25 years.
Congress's incumbent MLA Kanti Sodaparmar, who won the seat by a margin of little over 5,000 votes in 2017, is hopeful of winning again, this time by an even larger margin.
Since the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which has fielded Girish Shandilya, allegedly does not have much support in the region, political watchers say this time will be a straight contest between Sodaparmar and Yogesh Patel of the BJP.
There are up to 15 hopefuls vying for office in Anand, sometimes called the "milk capital" of India. In Anand, you may find the headquarters of the Gujarat Milk Marketing Cooperative Federation, which produces the well-known Amul brand of dairy goods.
In 2017, the Congress party won five of the seven Assembly seats in the Anand district, of which Anand city is one. In this constituency, there are 3,13,857 eligible voters (1,59,122 males, 1,54,730 women, and 5 transgender people). The Kshatriya caste is the main one in the area.
"Three times prior to the year 2017, I came up just short. But since I became an MLA, I've been serving the public. By a margin of 25,000 votes this time, "To paraphrase what Sodaparmar stated. He said that the people had received nothing except inflation, unemployment, and corruption from the BJP administration.
Congress senior leader Bharatsinh Solanki told PTI that the party is taking steps to mitigate any potential harm from the AAP.
He said that the Congress party's goal for this election is to win all seven seats in the Anand district. "Two of our 2017 battles, at Umreth and Khambath, ended in defeat. We have distributed tickets to NCP members in Umreth and Khambath this time around. We have also put forth Chirag Patel, a rising star within the Patidar community "According to PTI, he said.
BJP officials in Anand district said their party was hurt in the past election because of the Patidar quota movement, which is now moot.
"We have determined what went wrong and are working to fix it. Yogesh Patel was joined by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel when he submitted his candidacy, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke at a big gathering in Vidyanagar before the election dates were published. This demonstrates the BJP's seriousness with regards to Anand "remarked a regional official of the governing party.
BJP candidate Yogesh Patel told PTI that social agitations hurt the party's performance in 2017, but that things would be different in 2022.
"Every family has benefited from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel's (and their predecessors') development programmes. It seems to the electorate that the BJP is their only viable option. People argue that a price increase is not a problem since their wages have increased along with the prices "The man spoke up and said.
According to Patel, the BJP has won all 24 seats in Vidyanagar since 2017, 18 of 28 in Karamsand, and 36 of 52 in Anand municipality. He noted that the BJP had sway over seven of the eleven taluka panchayats and both of the Zilla panchayats in rural regions.
Local BJP leader Lalji Pansuriya has said that Anand is a crucial district since Karamsand is where Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was born and raised. He maintained that there was no dearth of services or facilities in the district.
According to Pansuriya, the vast majority of people living in Anand have family members who are now residing in another country. Importantly, he said, while being citizens of their chosen nation, they choose to reinvest all of their money in their home country.
"People under 30 in Gujarat have never lived under Congress administration. The BJP's privatisation of education and high rates of unemployment have given us plenty of fodder for our campaign, which is gaining steam "paraphrased Congress staffer Mahesh Solanki.
Assembly constituency Anand includes the cities of Anand, Karamsand, and Vidyanagar, as well as 14 surrounding villages. Five of these rural communities have grown into small towns around Anand.
Additionally to the state-run Agriculture University and Sardar Patel University, Anand is home to the private Bhikabai Medical University, Charusat University, and CVM University.
