While in Uttar Pradesh, Rajinikanth also showed his latest hit movie "Jailer" to UP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya.
Popular actor Rajinikanth caused some buzz when he touched the feet of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath Yogi during a visit to the BJP leader's house in Lucknow. When he returned to Chennai on Monday night, Rajinikanth talked to reporters who were waiting at the airport.
When asked about why he touched UP CM's feet, Rajinikanth said he did it out of respect. He explained, "It's something I do as a habit to show respect to Yogis or Sanyasis, even if they are younger than me. That's all."
During his time in Uttar Pradesh, Rajinikanth also organized a special show of his movie "Jailer," and UP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya attended. He also met Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav at his home. He visited the Surya Command as well and thanked the Indian Army for their service.
Before coming to Uttar Pradesh, Rajinikanth visited the famous Badrinath temple in Uttarakhand. He prayed there and took part in the evening ceremony. Pictures and videos from this trip became very popular on social media.
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth's movie "Jailer" is doing really well at the box office. The movie is about a retired police officer who uses his connections with former prisoners to help his son escape from a gangster. It has earned more than 500 crore rupees globally, making it the second highest-earning Tamil film ever, just behind Rajinikanth's own movie "2.0" from 2018.
Apart from Rajinikanth, the movie "Jailer" stars Vinayakan, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Vasanth Ravi, Mirnaa Menon, and Sunil in important roles. The director Nelson also brought in actors like Tamannaah Bhatia, Mohanlal, Jackie Shroff, and Shiva Rajkumar for small parts.
